Hostel in the Archaeological Mining Park · Campiglia Marittima (LI) · since 2009

Student’s Hostel Gowett

A hostel inside the San Silvestro Archaeological Mining Park, run without interruption since 2009 and now in its third consecutive concession.

The assignment

Palazzo Gowett is the historic building of the mine management, now inside the San Silvestro Archaeological Mining Park in Campiglia Marittima. It was entrusted to us by Parchi Val di Cornia S.p.A., the public company that runs the parks of the Val di Cornia. We have run it since January 2009.

After two concession periods, the third consecutive concession, lasting nine years, began on 4 April 2026.

An outpost of the Park

We do not run it as a simple hostel. The Gowett is an active outpost of the Park: an information point on the Rocca di San Silvestro and the Villa Lanzi Documentation Centre, and a base for schools, groups and hikers who come to discover the area.

The main services are run directly by our staff, who live on site from April to September. Catering and the swimming pool are for guests only.

We work with the Municipality of Campiglia Marittima, with local associations and with farmers and tourism businesses in the Val di Cornia.

Who it is for

Schools and educational groups, hikers, young and university travellers, people interested in cultural and responsible tourism, associations.
